Turn west up Pioneertown Road and feel your grip on the steering wheel loosen. Billboards and traffic signals have disappeared, replaced by spectacular rock formations and piercing blue skies.
 Newly relaxed, you may abandon all caution and roll down your car windows to ---hey, what's that smell? It's called "fresh air". Congratulations, you've successfully escaped the gravitational pull of the city. Within minutes you'll be at Rimrock Ranch Cabins, The High Desert Getaway for Stressed-Out City Dwellers.
Built in 1947, Rimrock Ranch began as the first homestead in the beautiful Rimrock area above Yucca Valley and below Big Bear Lake. A few cabins sprouted up shortly after that, built to house the stars and directors of dozens of cowboy movies filming in nearby Pioneertown during the 50's. Rimrock is a year-round destination (uniquely located 4,500 feet above sea level just at the snow line), offering four distinct and gorgeous seasons. Our summers are 15-20 degrees cooler than nearby
Joshua Tree National Park. Plus, we've got a
pool.
Rimrock's four cabins are a cozy, eclectic mix of lodge style & antiques. All feature original knotty pine paneling, and artisan laid tile floors. Fully equipped kitchens, shower bathrooms stocked with soaps, shampoos & big towels, and a private patio with outdoor fireplace ensure your comfort and ease. Bring vittles and snacks for the fridge and you'll never want to leave.
 Sunsets and stars viewed from our Giant Timber Observation Deck bring peace to jangled city nerves. Rekindle the lost art of conversation around a rock lined campfire pit. Or just hang out by the mineral water swimming pool. For you active types, abundant bouldering, hiking & biking trails are just outside the door; explorers of a different nature will delight in the endlessly quirky local sites and scenes that can't be found in any guidebook.
Whatever your choice of activities, you'll end your day nestled in your cabin on a comfy, down-pillowed bed. Friends from around the world tell us they do some of their best dreaming here.
