Recreation is as close as your front door at Rimrock Ranch Cabins. We're surrounded by acres of gentle walking paths and hiking trails, bouldering and rock climbing. Our backyard is the thousand-acre Pipes Canyon Wilderness Preserve, and Joshua Tree National Park is just a short car ride away. Leisure pursuits at the Ranch include cloud spotting and stargazing on our giant observation deck made of rough-hewn timber and lodge pole pine, roasting marshmallows in our rock-lined campfire pit or simply relaxing in the hammock.

If you're in the mood to kick up your heels, we're just a few miles up the road from historic Pioneertown, home of Pappy & Harriet's Palace, the best honky-tonk west of the Colorado River.
There you'll find hearty home-style food plus live music and dancing on the weekends. Grab a cold one and belly up to the bar for some of the best people-watching on the planet. At the Pioneertown Bowl, nostalgia, bowling and martinis never went so well together as at the lanes where none other than Pioneertown founder Roy Rogers rolled the first strike.

C & S Coffee Shop Everything you love in a small town diner: comfort food in heaping portions, rocket fuel coffee and waitresses who call you "honey".
Water Canyon Coffee Co. Frothy coffee drinks, smoothies and sandwiches served in architecturally eclectic surroundings. Music on the weekends, too.
Santana's A former Dairy Queen Drive-thru goes Mexican. Nondescript décor, but the fish tacos hit the spot.
Yokozona Sushi in the desert? No, it's not a mirage, it's Yokozona, where the fish is super fresh and the Japanese mom and pop atmosphere is serene.
Crossroads Café Delectable sandwiches, soups and beverages in a funky, casual storefront. On certain nights you might be lucky enough to catch Rimrock's very own caretaker Jon Bertini as he wows the crowds with his virtuoso mandolin solos.

Take a stroll around Yucca Valley's burgeoning Old Town section, a growing collection of antique and collectable stores all anchored by the beautiful Water Canyon Coffee Co. This homegrown retail aggregation is no gentrified tourist trap; the shopkeepers are friendly, the mood is relaxed, and there's not a souvenir t-shirt stand in sight. Serious pickers head out early to the Sky Drive-In Flea Market to uncover that funky or fabulous one-of-a-kind desert prize.
